Northern Monk - The Purist - Patrons

The second in a series of single hop IPA's with Laura Slater showcases one of the most exciting new hop varieties to come to market in a few years. A product of Indie Hops, Oregon’s breeding program, Strata brings together such a wide variety of flavours that you could easily think it was a blend.

A distinct passion fruit character up front backed up by juicy ripe mango, pineapple, orange zest, honeydew melon and plenty of resinous pine underneath. This offers a depth of flavour that hasn’t been seen since the early experimental releases of Mosaic!

They put together a classic NE IPA base with plenty of oats and wheat, with a generous whirlpool addition to see how the resinous notes would present from hot side addition. Lastly, they dry hopped at 24g/l to ensure you can smell the passion fruit aroma coming from down the street.
