An equally sad and joyous occasion as we come to the final, Gold edition release in our series with the incomparable Drew Millward. In a project that has taken on a spectrum of childhood flavours and tropical delights, we’ve made sure to finish in style.
Starting with a base of extra pale barley malt accentuated with plenty of flaked oats, we added lactose in the boil for creaminess, before cooling the whirlpool and hopping heavily with Citra and Columbus BBC hops, a combination selected to give a resinous and ripe fruit base to this IPA.
In the FV we went to town with 460kg of mango and pineapple, followed up with a touch of papaya, then dry-hopped with more Citra BBC alongside the zesty orange notes of El Dorado, and some classic citrus and stone fruit in the shape of Cashmere.
The result is an absolute tropical delight of a beer. Silky smooth and dripping in juicy character, this beer runs the perfect balance between fruit smoothie and DDH IPA, delivering big punches of both.
