"We are pleased to announce the release of Gusbourne Brut Reserve 2016.
We have learned that using only the finest quality fruit is the most valuable ingredient when making solely vintage wines. It is why our range of over 100 base wines are vinified separately by individual vineyard parcel and why our annual blending tastings are conducted completely blind and judged entirely on taste.
Crafting vintage wines with consistency and style can only be achieved this way. There can be no pre-conceived ideas or pre-determined plans for how we will use the fruit that we have harvested.
Our 2016 Brut Reserve is unique to its growing season and reflective of the time and place in our vineyards. It continues to be dominated by Pinot Noir, which accounts for 53% of the blend, alongside 40% Chardonnay and 7% Pinot Meunier.
Our Brut Reserve 2016 enjoyed 36 months ageing on its lees, and it demonstrates all of the character we have learned to associate with the grapes that we pick from our vineyards in Kent. It is dominated by leafy, earthy, tertiary notes. It reveals a unique fruit profile that features golden, yellow, soft orchard fruits and ripe pears. It offers restraint and a gentle generosity."
